The Pliotron Traveling Spray Self-Wash System has been designed around the Pliotron Heavy Duty Filter. Before describing this filter, and its performance, we wish to point out that the Pliotron System has been successfully applied and used with filter medium other than the Pliotron Heavy Duty Filter. This has been particularly true of systems where the Pliotron Heavy Duty Filter was of too high a quality for the specific installation.

The Pliotron HD filter panel is constructed in three sections:

A fine screen is provided at the intake side which is designed to prevent insects, weed seeds, etc. from entering the filter.

The outlet face is composed of a binded non-woven fibre mat. Packed between these two layers is the primary media which is shredded polyethylene. This whole filter medium is encased in a welded galvanized hardware cloth and firmly positioned in a rigid galvanized steel frame. Unlike other filters, this medium self-generates an appreciable electrostatic effect, aside from its excellent mechanical ability to provide excellent filtration performance while maintaining minimal pressure drop.
